Our Services

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

Our Behaviour Support Practitioners are all NDIS suitable and work within a Positive Behaviour Support framework. Quality of life is the main focus of our practitioners whilst working towards minimising any behavioural risks that may be present.

Our practitioners work with participants who may be subjected to Regulated Restrictive Practices and will work with the person and their support network towards reduction and elimination of all Restrictive Interventions.

Our process involves:

  • Initial Risk Assessments: This involves a comprehensive screening of behavioural risks that includes vulnerability risks to the participant from others, risks of harm to self and risk of harm to others.
  • Functional Behavioural Assessments (FBA): At MWS, we conduct comprehensive functional behavioural assessments that are represented within a Behavioural Assessment Report (BAR). These assessments extend beyond the minimum standard and consider additional focus areas that assist in behaviour support and intervention planning that improves outcomes for participants.
  • Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSP): Our Interim and Comprehensive behaviour support plans embed a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Person Centred Planning (PCP) strengths based framework. We also include a Trauma Informed (TI) framework when required drawn from the NSW government and Berry Street ‘Taking time’ framework.
  • Competency based PBSP Training and Intervention: Our behaviour support practitioners deliver comprehensive training products that extend beyond a single training session. Our practitioners conduct both Verbal and Procedural Reliability assessments post training to ensure carers who have been trained are competent in implementing behaviour support plans. This significantly improves the efficacy of plans and greatly increases outcomes and the achievement of goals for participants.
  • Evaluation and Review: All behaviour support plans are reviewed as required based on intervention data collected throughout the implementation of the plan. Progress towards goal completion are evaluated and changes are made where required. Plans are then reviewed based on the evaluation of this data and goals adjusted accordingly.
